The Promethean LP-1 was developed under the L&S Central Ohio Research Division [CORD] to meet the uncompromising reliability standards of professional end user teams. An overbuilt 7075-T6 housing is paired with a user-replaceable crumple hood that surrounds crystal-clear Japanese glass and patent-pending AuraWake circuitry.
AURAWAKE.
AuraWake™ is CORD’s patented, reliable utilization of shake-to-wake technology. Competitor shake-to-wake optics will auto shut-off after a set number of hours to conserve runtime, and a motion sensor reactivates the reticle once movement is detected. However, motion sensors may exhibit unreliability if damaged during impact, fostering a subsequent equipment failure upon weapon deployment.
To prevent catastrophic aiming system failure, CORD Instruments is proud to implement AuraWake™, a new partial shake-to-wake system that ties the motion sensor only to the circuit of the 65-MOA ring.
Following 5 minutes of non use, the LP-1’s outer CQB ring will “sleep,” yet maintain the 2-MOA dot on at all times. This provides a constant, action-ready aiming reference that cannot be interfered with upon motion sensor failure, while significantly increasing runtime.

My review is based on two separate topics. The first involves what type of company Lead & Steel is. I placed an order back in late 2022 and knew my deliver date would extend into 2023. I waited patiently and it was getting close to the time I was expecting delivery. L&S calls me and explains that there is a new revision of the optic that will be released shortly and I had the option of having the original model ship immediately or wait a few weeks for the new revision. I opted to wait, but being given that option tells me what I need to know about this company. They’re good people doing their absolute best to provide good service.
So about the optic… it’s great. The mounting mechanism is perfect and can be adjusted to the appropriate level of tightness with no tools. The quick disconnect works as expected and is of course tool-free as well. The optic is well-built (understatement) and looks absolutely perfect sitting on top of my DP-12. I was able to figure out the controls without consulting a manual. Since I received the newer version of the product, I’ll ramble a bit about it. When I was given the option to receive the new product the person who called me explained the main new feature (essentially a hybrid form of shake awake) in detail. Because the sensor that detects the shake is the most fragile part in any optic, Lead & Steel went with a hybrid approach that as best I can tell is unique to them. It’s a brilliant idea. The bulk of your power draw in an optic is the red circle and that is controlled by shake awake. That’s what saves your battery. In the unlikely event of a sensor failure, you would still have your red dot (minus the circle) which operates separate from shake awake and remains on as long as the optic is powered. This means you might not have the pattern you want if something fails, but you’ll still have that red dot so your optic will never let you down. Since the power draw of the dot is so small this seems like a perfect compromise. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

I will absolutely recommend not just this product but the company. This product was on backorder, I waited two months for it and got an email asking if I wanted it now or do I wait for the upgrade at no cost, so of course I waited.
